More on Jojo Open Source CMS
By Bruce Clement
As I reported earlier I've been experimenting with the Jojo CMS system. This is a lean, content management system designed from the ground up for security, flexibility, and standards compliant layout using CSS and XHTML. It also supports multiple sites from a single install so is very much to my heart. Unfortunately my experience deploying live sites hasn't been quite as good as I reported. This software is still very young and there are a number of rough edges as at mid October 2008. One of the things I've found is that several of the problems I encountered while using the "Release candidate 1" version are already cured in the developer version, and I've switched over to using one of the daily builds from http://snaps.jojocms.org/. Currently the one from the 18th of October, but I'll update as and when I see useful bug fixes. Fortunately, it is incredibly easy to install an upgrade of Jojocms and with the multi-site capability I can upgrade all the sites I have running on it in a few minutes. Just like any other non-trivial system there's still bugs, one I found last night temporarily brought my system to its knees. Luckily it was a one line change to the php code and I've reported the fix to the Jojo developers.
